Whether you're craving a hearty breakfast, a midday snack, or a celebratory cake, El Cafetal Bakery has something to satisfy your palate.

Start your morning with their famous Pan de Poner, a Colombian cheese bread that’s fresh, flaky, and irresistibly cheesy, earning high praise from regulars who love that it’s always served warm and fresh. Pair it with their expertly crafted coffee—served with coffee ice cubes, a thoughtful detail noticed by many customers, ensuring your iced coffee stays rich and undiluted.

Lunch options offer comforting classics like the beef empanada and heartwarming chicken soup, alongside daily specials that come with a soup and a beverage for great value. For those who want a handheld flavorful meal, the Bacon Egg & Cheese Sandwich and Egg Whites with Turkey Bacon are perfect picks, balancing wholesome ingredients with satisfying textures.

One of the bakery’s standout offerings is its dessert—especially the Tres Leches Cake and the uniquely enticing Tres Leches Carrot Cake. These cakes come highly recommended for their moist, light texture and just the right degree of sweetness. Customers rave about the delicate balance of flavors, like the pineapple filling in birthday cakes that is perfectly chopped to avoid overpowering chunks, offering a fresh, fruit-forward bite without being too sweet.

The bakery also shines in special orders, crafting beautifully decorated birthday and Mother’s Day cakes that turn every celebration into a memorable event. This personal touch is backed by attentive and patient service—one customer shared how the baker took the time to understand their preferences to create a cake that was both visually stunning and delicious. The care and communication make you feel valued and confident in your order from start to finish.

El Cafetal’s pastry case is another treasure trove offering freshly baked croissants, chocolate cakes, fresh bread, and traditional Colombian favorites like the Pan de Bono—a small cheese bread beloved for its airy yet cheesy bite. For the adventurous, their sweet and fruity cholado and falooda drinks add an exotic, refreshing twist to the bakery experience.

The atmosphere of El Cafetal Bakery is simple and welcoming, with clean interiors and a neighborhood vibe that makes it a comfortable spot to stop by whether you’re on the go or looking for a casual place to enjoy your treat. Service is quick and friendly, and the staff’s warmth shines through in every interaction—though be aware they accept cash only.

In sum, El Cafetal Bakery isn’t just a place to grab a quick pastry—it’s a vibrant corner of Colombian culinary tradition, fused with a local neighborhood charm that invites repeat visits. Whether you want a thoughtfully customized cake, a savory empanada, or a perfectly brewed coffee, this bakery promises a genuine, flavorful experience that feels both authentic and heartfelt.

Ordered my birthday cake and the baker was so nice and took time to answer all of my questions. It was the first time trying this bakery. I wanted a pineapple flavored filling. I don't like big chucks of pineapple so the baker understood and made a very nice filling with very small pieces of pineapple which was exactly how I wanted it. The cake wasn't overly sweet and perfect but very filling as the ingredients are rich. The icening was a light whipped consistency. It was the most beautiful cake that I've ever had. See my pictures attached although i dont think the pictures did it justice. Myself, my family and friends really enjoyed it. The baker also accurately informed me of how many people the cake could serve. I will be returning. The servers were so nice.

Their food is good (the beef empanada was a bit salty though) and the atmosphere is also nice. The service was quick and friendly. Just one thing is you have to pay cash only. If you're looking for authentic Colombian food this is the place in the area.

Small bakery in Richmond Hill with a simple, clean interior and cases of pastries. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a coffee since it looked like one of the more welcoming places on the block. Got an ice coffee and was surprised that they use coffee ice cubes, not just regular ice cubes! Loved that extra touch to make sure your coffee doesn't get diluted. For an area where coffee options are few, this took me by pleasant surprise. The staff at the counter was friendly and I want to come back to actually try some of the food!

My husband and I love the pan queso. Always fresh and delicious. The customer service is always excellent too. So we decided to order our daughter’s tres leche birthday cake from this bakery. It was delicious and everyone at the party loved the cake. The baker was very communicative and decorated the cake just how we wanted it.
